I took the weekend to weigh out the pros and cons of each magazine genre. With that being said I have decided to go with a Women's Lifestyle magazine. I picked this because with my research behind me I feel as if this genre is a broad enough topic, which allows me to really individualize my work and cover enough element stop keep it interesting. Also because I am an 18 year old girl, i feel like I can really dive into this genre and make a magazine other women would want to purchase and read.

My teacher gave me access to Joomag, which is  magazine making program, I plan to try it out tomorrow and see how i like it. My other option is Canva which is similar to Joomag, but I found Canva to be a little difficult to work and navigate. In the event that I find Joomag just as difficult, I will probably gravitate towards Canva considering I already have experience with it.

I plan on posting sample layouts for my cover page tomorrow along with color pallets and font choices. Currently I have the idea of a February issue, so i can incorporate the theme of love and sex appeal and use pick and red hues to support the theme. Maybe I can provide beauty tips using lists/numbers and date night plans in order to appeal to the genres target audience, which is women, primarily from 18 and up. I have set my min don a monthly issue of the magazine in opposition to weekly , because I feel I will have more information gathered monthly, than I would on a weekly basis.

I've done my research on both Women's Lifestyle magazines as well as food magazines, but I am struggling with my choice.  Food magazines have many different ways to go and branch off of but they need very specific information and descriptions, and everything has to be hand made, which may be difficult. The Layout is very different for woman weekly, as you can see on this website showing the best food magazines.  https://www.thespruce.com/magazines-food-lovers-1666019  The main pictures are usually central and taken from an arial view (the top) with simple words around it and no other peaks into the magazine. Women's Magazines are filled with much more information like People Magazine, where the magazine has a main story, which usually centralizes around the cover image, follow by many other  little stories. So I did a crazy thing today. I completely changed my two page layout topic to something i found one more relatable to women and easier for me to write about. I changed it to a sort of self love theme because especially now, with everything going on in the world, women empowerment and love is so crucial to all women all around the world. I focused my topic on women feeling smart sexy and confident on Valentine's Day, whether with a partner or not, feel good is so important. I used different fonts for all the adjectives because in my opinion, they all portray a different type of vibe. That may sound weird but I felt as if the word sexy just belonged in red script. Below I will attach a photo of my spread thus far with all the changes I've made.
